Thanks very much.Posted on Google Jean HoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Cost me 1.6k to move a 2 bedroom apartment. On the first day, they were prompt and arrived 15 min earlier which was nice. But took over 2 hours to disassemble two bedframes and move less than half of the furniture. Concierge disallowed any more moving after 4:30pm so we couldn’t continue and I was forced to pay for another day. After drop off they kept on asking for extra cash payment saying the distance from the lift to the truck was very far, which was true tbf. But I am paying you by the hour. They also complained that an item was very heavy. And asked for $150 in cash or bank transfer saying that the company will not pay them for the extra effort they are going to. I caved and gave them $125 even though the confirmation email explicitly told me not to, but I was scared as I was alone in the dark with two strange men and they wouldn’t leave. Afterwards, they told me the company needed me to make a Google review and stood over my shoulder to watch, taking a photo as evidence. There was no time to check the furniture and I was also overcharged by an hour, but was able to get it changed after I double checked the invoice and brought it up. On the second day, the movers were very quick and moved everything else I had in one hour. However, they also removed the paintings on the wall I told the men on day 1 not to remove. So there was no communication between them. They also overcharged me ($600 in cash for less than 4 hours of work) I was just so tired and done that I just gave them the money. Overall, this was a scary and draining experience and I just wish they were more honest. I only chose them because of the positive reviews which I now know are fake. Especially the reviews that sounds generic or half hearted because I honestly didn’t know what to write in the moment.Posted on Google Rob LiuTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Here’s something most people figure out the hard way: apartment moves are a completely different animal. You’re not backing a truck up to a driveway and walking furniture through a wide front door. You’re dealing with narrow corridors, service lifts with weight limits, underground car parks with low clearance, and building managers who’ve seen one too many damaged hallways.
Then there’s the logistics. Most Melbourne apartments have strict moving windows, usually a few hours on a weekday morning. Miss that slot and you’re rescheduling your entire day. Some buildings need 48 hours notice. Others want copies of your removalist’s insurance certificate before they’ll even book the goods lift.
We know all of this because we’ve been doing apartment removals across Melbourne for over a decade. Our crew has moved people in and out of high-rises in Southbank, walkups in Fitzroy, period conversions in St Kilda, and brand new builds in Docklands. That kind of hands-on knowledge matters when your couch needs to make a 90-degree turn through a fire door on level 14.
No depot fees. No hidden costs. Just experienced apartment removalists who'll turn up on time, treat your gear with respect, and get the job done.
Every piece of furniture gets wrapped in thick padded blankets before it leaves your apartment. Mattresses go into sealed covers. Glass and mirrors get corner protectors and cardboard shielding. We don't charge extra for wrapping materials — it's part of the job. The last thing we want is a scratch on your dining table or a ding on your hallway wall.
Beds, desks, wardrobes — if it comes apart, we'll take them down at the old place and put them back together at the new one. Our guys carry a full toolkit. No asking you to find an Allen key at 7 am.
We bring the right-sized truck for your apartment. Not an oversized rig that can't fit in the loading bay. Not a van that'll need three trips. Our team calculates the volume beforehand so we arrive with the right vehicle and the right number of hands on deck.
Don't have time to pack? No worries. Our packing and unpacking team can sort your entire apartment the day before, using proper cartons and packing paper — not bin bags and hope.
Got a piano wedged in the living room? A pool table that somehow made it up to the fourth floor? We've got dedicated teams for both. Our piano movers and pool table removalists know how to shift heavy, awkward gear through tight apartment spaces without damaging your items or the building.
Some companies clock starts the moment they leave their warehouse in Dandenong or Truganina. That’s 40 minutes of travel you’re paying for before anyone touches your furniture. We don’t do that. Your clock starts when we arrive at your door.
We quote a price. That’s the price. If something unexpected comes up during the move, we talk to you first. No one likes opening their wallet to a surprise bill at the end of a long day.
We carry public liability insurance, transit insurance for your belongings, and workers' compensation for our team. That covers your walls, your furniture, and our people. If your apartment building asks for a certificate of currency, which most of them do. We send it over the same day.
We’re sitting on 800+ Google reviews with a 4.6-star average. Our reviews are not inflated with fake five-star ratings. We receive honest feedback from people who have actually used our services. You’ll see names like Aman, Gurbaj, Harry, Gill and Jackey pop up again and again—that's because our team is consistent and people notice.
Melbourne CBD, Southbank, Docklands, South Melbourne, Port Melbourne, West Melbourne, North Melbourne, East Melbourne. These are our bread and butter — tight access, strict building rules, and heavy foot traffic. We know them inside out.
Carlton, Fitzroy, Collingwood, Brunswick, Northcote, Thornbury. Lots of walkup apartments, share houses, and heritage conversions. Narrow staircases and street parking are the norm here, and our smaller trucks handle them well.
South Yarra, Prahran, St Kilda, Windsor, Brighton, Elwood, Port Melbourne. A mix of luxury apartments, older art-deco blocks, and beachside conversions. We treat every move with the same care regardless of the price tag.
Richmond, Hawthorn, Toorak, Malvern, Glen Iris, Caulfield, Bentleigh, Clayton, Dandenong. From student digs near Swinburne and Monash to family-sized apartments, we’ve moved them all.

We recommend booking at least one to two weeks ahead, especially if you’re moving on a weekend or at the end of the month. Those are the busiest times across Melbourne. That said, we do take last-minute bookings when we’ve got availability. Call us on (03) 7044 8012 and we’ll see what we can do.
We can help with that. Once you’ve booked your move, we’ll reach out to confirm the details you need from the building — goods lift booking, loading dock access, parking permits, and insurance paperwork. Most Melbourne apartment buildings require your removalist’s insurance certificate in advance, and we’ll send that over straight away.
It happens more than you’d think. Large couches, king-sized bed frames, and wardrobes sometimes won’t fit through standard apartment entries. When we do our pre-move assessment, we’ll flag any items that might be a challenge and plan accordingly. In most cases, a bit of disassembly and clever angling does the trick. For genuinely oversized items, there are specialist balcony hoist services we can coordinate with.
Yes, we operate seven days a week including public holidays. Keep in mind that some apartment buildings restrict weekend moves or limit moving hours. It’s worth checking with your building manager when you’re planning the date. We can work within whatever window your building allows.
Ideally, yes. Removing contents from drawers and shelves makes each item lighter and safer to carry. It also protects your belongings inside if the furniture gets tilted during stair carries or tight turns. If you need help with packing, we offer a full packing service where our team handles everything the day before.
Absolutely. Plenty of Melbourne’s older apartment blocks in suburbs like Fitzroy, Carlton, and St Kilda don’t have lifts. Our crew is experienced with stair carries and we’ll factor that into your quote so there are no surprises on the day. Stair-only moves generally take a bit longer, but our blokes are fit and they’re used to it.
Yes, we have a two-hour minimum for apartment moves. For most 1-bedroom apartments within Melbourne, the job wraps up within that window. Larger apartments naturally take longer and we’ll give you an honest time estimate upfront.
We carry full transit insurance and public liability insurance. If something is damaged — whether it’s your furniture or the building itself — we address it directly. It’s rare because our team is trained to wrap, protect, and handle items carefully. But you’re covered regardless.
Hourly rates vary depending on the truck size and crew. At Big Stuff Movers, you’re looking at competitive rates starting from $60 per half hour with no depot or travel fees built in. For a typical 2-bedroom apartment move with two movers and a 4-tonne truck, expect to pay somewhere between $400 and $650 all up. We’ll give you a firm quote before the move so there’s no guesswork.
We cover all of metro Melbourne and surrounding areas. Our busiest suburbs for apartment moves include Melbourne CBD, Southbank, Docklands, South Yarra, St Kilda, Fitzroy, Carlton, Richmond, Brunswick, and Hawthorn — but we’re happy to go wherever your new place is.
